Next, you’ll experience the historical tradition of net fishing beneath the ice, learning firsthand how nets are set and what you might catch. This is a hands-on experience, you don’t just watch, you also participate in bringing up the nets. You’ll also try ice fishing yourself—drill your own hole in the ice and see what you can reel in.
While you fish, your guide will build a fire and prepare a meal over the open flames. If you catch any fish, it will be included in your meal. If not, you’ll still enjoy a hearty, delicious, traditional Finnish dish.
In case of extreme cold (temperatures under -20C or strong winds), there will be a heated tent available during the fishing where you can warm up and to enjoy the meal in the warm.
At the end of the day, you’ll bid farewell to your guide, and he will drive off into the sunset, leaving you with wonderful memories to cherish for a life.

Your adventure begins as our guide from Ivalo (bringing decades of expertise in hunting, fishing, and hiking across Lapland) welcomes you aboard a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile. Settle in on a reindeer hide, wrap yourself in a blanket, and prepare to explore the breathtaking expanse of Lake Inari in true Finnish style. To ensure your comfort, if needed, you’ll be outfitted with cold gear for the day.
The journey continues with a guided snowshoe walk on one of the lake’s islands. Your guide will share insights about the local wildlife and environment, pointing out animal tracks in the snow—and if luck is on your side, you may even spot some animals. The walk leads to a vantage point, offering panoramic views of the lake and its islands.
